It takes an age to get to Lyons, but I don’t care. I’m having an adventure!
Unlike Paris, the city greets me with open arms. Once I’ve set up my guitar in one of the two pedestrianized streets, I start to sing and it’s not long before a crowd forms to listen.
Everything goes well until, between songs, two policeman arrive. The crowd quietens.
Are they going to arrest me?
To my astonishment, they do something unexpected and decide to join us. Heart in mouth, I start singing again. To everyone’s delight, they clap with everyone else when I finish.
The place erupts with a cheer and raised hands. The atmosphere is electric.
If this is what singing in public is like, then I never want to stop.
